🐾Animals have always held a special place in my heart — especially rescues.🐾

All 3 of my dogs, Papi, Nyx and Gizmo, are rescue pups, and they’ve become such an important part of my life (and my “office assistants” during tax season). If you’ve ever adopted an animal, you know they don’t just become pets — they become family.

That’s why I created this space.

While my blog focuses on making taxes easier to understand, this page is a small way for me to support something else I care deeply about — helping animals find safe, loving homes.

Here, I’ll occasionally feature adoptable pets from local rescues, along with helpful resources for fosters, adopters, and supporters.

I’m not affiliated with these rescues — just someone who believes that a little extra visibility can help the right animal find the right home.

Sunflower's name fits her perfectly. After facing incredibly difficult circumstances, she's proving just how resilient and beautiful second chances can be. Safe in foster care, she's blossoming into a loving companion who enjoys quiet walks, cozy naps, and spending time with her people.

Sunflower is wonderful with dogs, people, and children. She has a gentle spirit and an affectionate personality that makes her easy to love. While she prefers a home without cats, she has so much love to give to the right family.

💛 About Piper:

Piper is a fun, energetic girl who’s ready for her chance at a forever home after raising her puppies. She’s affectionate, playful, and loves being part of the action — whether that’s playing with toys or spending time with her people.

At around 27 lbs, she’s small but strong and would benefit from continued training and structure. Piper is dog selective and does best with dogs her size. She would do best in a home without cats and with older children due to her strength and energy.

Bert is a gorgeous young husky with so much potential. At just 1 year old, he is still learning about the world and looking for a place where he can feel safe and supported.

He was saved from an overcrowded city shelter where the environment was overwhelming for him. Like many young dogs in that situation, he just needs time, guidance, and a chance to settle into a stable routine.

Bert is a sweet pup who is ready to grow into an amazing companion with the right home.

💙 Once overwhelmed in a shelter environment, Bert is now safe — and waiting for someone to give him the fresh start he deserves.

After a stressful start, Skipper has been safely pulled by a rescue and is no longer at risk. He now has the opportunity to decompress, build confidence, and begin his next chapter in a more stable environment.

Peanut Butter's story began with heartbreak. She was found tied to a tree on Christmas Eve, abandoned and left behind. Today, she's safe, loving, and ready for a forever family of her own. PB is a loyal "Velcro dog" who loves cuddles, cozy chairs, treats, and simply being near her people. After waiting more than two years for a home, she deserves a family that will never leave her behind again.

He’s eager to learn, loves other dogs, and thrives with structure and routine. Charlie is a “worth-it” dog — he needs an experienced, confident handler who can provide clear boundaries and consistency to help him succeed. With the right leader, he has everything it takes to be an incredible companion.

Mini Byte arrived at a shelter as a frightened stray and gave birth shortly afterward. After safely raising her puppies, it's finally her turn to be cared for. She is sweet, gentle, and looking for a patient family willing to let trust develop at her own pace.

Just over 1 year old, Wednesday came to us after surviving NYC ACC. Despite her rough start, she is a gentle, affectionate girl with so much love to give. Wednesday does well with dogs, cats, and older kids (15+). What she needs most is a patient foster or adopter who can help her learn the things she missed early on — confidence, structure, and trust. With consistency and kindness, she’s going to absolutely thrive.

Abilene is a sweet young momma who was rescued while heavily pregnant and safely welcomed six puppies into rescue care. After everything she’s been through, she’s understandably very protective of her babies and focused on keeping them safe.

Right now, Abilene is learning that she’s finally safe too — and she deserves a future filled with patience, kindness, and love. 💛

Cherry Garcia is an ACC survivor who’s safe, loved, and still waiting for his forever home. Cherry has been nothing but happy, exuberant, and goofy boy.  Sure he is a little rough around the edges, but once out of the shelter we got to see his fun and spunky personality He’s in a foster home in Binghamton proving that everyone deserves a second chance.

Age: ~9.5 years 

 Abby is 9½ years old and recently went through the hardest thing a dog can face—losing her lifelong person. Now, this gentle 45 lb senior is looking for a fresh start in a calm, loving environment where she can feel secure again. Abby is a "dream" dog for anyone looking for quiet companionship. She is low-key, incredibly affectionate, and her greatest joy in life is a soft place to nap near her favorite humans. She is wonderful with children and adults, making her a perfect addition to a household that moves at a slightly slower pace. A note on friends: Abby is good with other dogs, but she requires extreme slow introductions to feel successful. She’s looking for a home without small dogs so she can feel fully at ease.

Rescue work isn’t always easy — sometimes the outcomes are heartbreaking. But their stories still deserve to be seen, remembered, and honored.
